Skin needling is a skin rejuvenation treatment also known as CIT (collagen induction therapy). It is able to restore and increase the skins natural regeneration of collagen and elastin through a natural healing process. Skin Needling involves minimal downtime and is non-invasive, it can be performed safely on all skin types.
As we age natural our collagen and elastin break down and our cells and fibroblasts diminish, With CIT we are able to stimulate the skin through a wound healing response to produce more fibroblasts, collagen and elastin which will lead to skin tightening, winkle reduction, small pore sizes and improvement of scarring and stretch marks. As the medical grade, stainless steel needles penetrate the skin they effectively create microscopic trauma deep within the skins epidermis and dermis. Tiny electrical signals are released which causes a chain of events and wound healing process to occur. Skin needling boosts our own natural collagen in our skin and essential minerals, protein and building blocks are released and regenerated.
Before all CIT Treatment
All clinical Skin Needling treatments require use of a Topical Local Anaesthetic or TLA. TLA is a topically applied anaesthetic in a cream or gel formulation that is applied to numb the surface of body skin including the facial area. Topical anaesthetics reversibly block nerve conduction preventing the initiation and transmission of nerve impulses and providing cutaneous analgesia by targeting free nerve endings in the dermis. This provides you with the most comfortable treatment and in most cases pain free.
A face area may be classed as roughly 1 treatment area. With a Pharmacy Medicine Schedule 2 TLA, it is not recommended to exceed more than 1 treatment area in one sitting.
A treatment plan of a mimimum of 3 CIT treatments is reccomended for best results.

After a Skin Needling treatment it is important for the skin to be able to heal and guidelines are for the first week to avoid are-

The History of Skin Needling
Skin needling has been derived from ancient acupuncture techniques combined with modern Mesotherapy practice and cosmetic / plastics medicine (Subcision®). A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with over 5000 years of history and results, the practice of acupuncture is defined by the insertion of tiny needles into specified points of the body’s meridian lines to regulate and restore flow to the body’s natural energy or qi. Utilising this Eastern Philosophy, the concept of Mesotherapy was developed in France in the 1950s and not only incorporated the use of needles to regulate and beautify the body, but included tiny painless micro injections of pharmaceutical, homeopathic and natural preparations (such as vitamins and plant extracts) to the upper layers of the epidermis to break up fatty deposits or to stimulate collagen and moisture production.
Created and developed in the late 1990s by a team of European and South African plastic surgeons, dermatologists and engineers, the concept of Skin Needling has a strong medical heritage that instantly advanced the technology and use of needles for cosmetic and skin enhancement. Whilst it was already known that the needles used in acupuncture assisted in alleviated pain, conquering addiction and increased body wellbeing, what was theorised and eventually scientifically proven was that the insertion of needles into the skin created electrical activity and a subsequent chain of events, resulting in increased collagen production and an effective wound healing response. Unlike ablative technologies such as laser and fractional laser, the results of Skin Needling are created by Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) rather than the creation of tough fibrotic or scar tissue. Unlike dermabrasion or laser treatments, there is likewise minimal to no risk of hyper-pigmentation or the associated downtime with such aforementioned approaches.
Skin Needling is a non-invasive procedure that incorporates a process of a roller with microscopic needles between 0.25mm to 2.0mm long depending on which device is used. As the needles are rolled over the skin, tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis that encourage the skin’s own natural response. There are no injections, incisions, stitches or implants made or inserted. As the gamma-sterilised, surgical-grade, stainless steel needles penetrate, they effectively create microscopic trauma deep within the skin’s matrix. As the skin reacts, tiny electrical signals are released which create a chain of events or a wound healing response. Essential minerals, proteins and cell generated tissue factors are discharged, not only affecting the electricity of the surrounding cells, but creating a regenerative process for fibroblasts.
Cells are recreated and re-invigorated to replace any damage, Transforming Growth Factor (TGF), Platelet Derived Growth Factors (PDGF), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF) and Macrophage Derived Growth Factors (MDGF) are released from broken capillaries, fibroblast cells are proliferated, collagen and elastin are regenerated, cell division is increased and nutrient rich blood flow is stimulated. The needles penetrate up to 2.0mm within the skin and into the dermis. Unlike laser, fractional laser, IPL, microdermabrasion or dermabrasion Skin Needling does not destroy the epidermis; creating scabbing, grazing or excessive bleeding.
The needles and rolling mechanism likewise are specifically designed to target and penetrate only sections (or fractions) of the skin per treatment, thereby encouraging faster downtime, less discomfort and an almost immediate outcome. The ingenuity of the device’s patented design and culmination mean no wound dressings or antibiotics or extended downtime are required
